Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Arrival

If the world had a window
I would have turned the other way
I would have chosen a comet
to deliver me through the Milky Way.

If the world had a window
It would have been stained with grime
It would have a fog of tears,
that no light could shine through.

If the world had a window
As a part of its creation
I would pity her wounds
as I change my destination.

Cavities

A hole in a sock
could not exist,
Without the material
That surrounds it.

A hole in a donut
could not exist,
Without the dough
That surrounds it.

A hole in a golf course
could not exist,
Without the earth
That surrounds it.

So too are we
who could not be,
Without the ones
who love us and surround us.

Dear Lord

Dear Lord, from Heaven above,
I am sending all my love.
I pray that when I die,
You'll take me to your palace in the sky.

In you, I do trust,
To follow your word, I'll do what I must.
Your only son you did give,
To let the rest of us live.

I know you will keep me from sin,
And keep me from the devils den.
I pray it is my fate,
To one day see that pearly gate.

Friends

You and I were once good friends,
we said there'd never be an end,
Then one day our friendship wore,
I don't know you anymore.

You changed on me and change is good,
but in your case, I really don't know
if that change was for the Best
and now I think we should give it a rest.

Old ideas have been cast out,
the ones you used to scream and shout,
now you lead a different life
talk about drugs and a knife.

I look back and wonder why,
you didn't read the warning signs.
You make the choice - it's your decision
Life is too precious to give it a kicking.

Friends are friends forever

Packing up the dreams God planted,
in the fertile soil of you.
Can’t believe the hopes he’s granted
Means a chapter in your life is through.

With the faith and love God’s given
Springing from the hope we know.
We will pray that joy you’ll live in,
is the strength that now you show.

But we’ll keep you close as always;
It won’t even seem you’ve gone,
cause our hearts in big and small ways
will keep the love that keeps us strong.

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord’s the Lord of them,
and a friend will not say never
cause the welcome never ends.

Though it’s hard to let you go
In the father’s hands we know
That a lifetime’s not too long
To live as friends.

Hidden by appearance

To really get to know someone,
you have to talk for awhile.
You can’t judge them just by looks
or by a pretty smile.

What really matters is inside,
you just have to look and see what’s there.
You might be surprised when you find,
the friendship you could share.

So don’t judge people by appearances,
but on whom you find inside
Don’t overlook the qualities,
that looks can sometimes hide.

Isolation

Isolation – Not just a Word to me,
sometimes it’s the way I wanna be.
When this world turns bitter and cold
and forces me to age and grow old.

Sometimes I like to be alone,
shut my door and unplug the phone.
Then I can see what’s happened before
I do not feel a lust for more.

And when the outlook is not good
I fall into another one of these moods
That I’m in now – you ask me why?
Don’t ask me questions - just leave and say goodbye.

Mommy went to Heaven

Mommy went to Heaven,
but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down,
I need her right away,

Operator can you tell me how
to find her in this book?
Is heaven in the yellow part,
I don't know where to look.

I think my daddy needs her too,
at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes,
but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her,
she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away,
Is it across the sea?

She's been gone a long, long time
she needs to come home now!
I really need to reach her,
I simply don't know how.

Help me find the number please,
is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big big words,
I am only seven.

I'm sorry operator,
I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too,
or is there something in your eye?

If I call my church
maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help
that's where we should go.

I found the number to my church
tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator,
I'll give them a call.

My Oath to You

When you are sad,.............I will dry your tears.
When you are scared,..........I will comfort your fears.
When you are worried,.........I will give you hope.
When you are confused,........I will help you cope.
When you need me,.........I will be here for you.
And when you are lost,........And can't see the light.
I shall be your beacon........Shining ever so bright
This is my oath...............I pledge till the end.
Why you may ask?..............Because you're my friend.

Sleep

Time slips by so very slow
I wonder if it will ever go….
It drags on quiet and boring
Sort of like this lecture I’m ignoring.

Verbs and nouns everywhere,
the sounds of eyelids dropping in the air…..
My teachers words pass through space
never reaching my funny-making face.

My mind plays in and out then stops,
visions of this world stagger as my head drops.
Into slumber I fall, into sleep,
no dreams, no sounds, this is too deep.

My body lies limp as my brain is unhooked
regaining the energy this morning took.
My body jumps and awakens by the bell,
I moan and I realize I’m still in this cell.

Success

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent People
and affection of children;
To earn the Appreciation of honest critics
and endure the Betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate Beauty,
To find the Best in others;
To leave the world a bit better,
Whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Teen Creed

Don’t let your parents down,
they brought you up.
Be humble enough to obey,
you might give orders someday.

Choose Companions with care,
you become what they are.
Guard your thoughts
what you think you are.

Choose only a date,
who would make a good mate.
Be master of your habits
or they will master you.

Don’t be a show off when you drive,
drive with safety and arrive.
Don’t let the crowd pressure you
stand for something or you’ll fall for anything.

Trees

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

True Love

I once was sad and dead inside,
there was no joy; there was no pride.
I used to think that I was blind
I couldn’t cry, my eyes were dry.

I was living a life long lost,
living a lie at any cost.
Walking through life without no direction,
looking for the sweetest perfection.

Trying to have a heart of stone,
denying the truth that I was alone.
And then something came from out of the Blue,
I was so lucky that I met you.

You’ve shown me things I never knew,
that I can love, and love only you.
God has finally made me see,
he gave me you, and gave you me.
I now know who I am and I have sight,
I want you for the rest of my life.

Twinkle, twinkle little Star

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
like a diamond in the sky.

When the blazing sun is gone,
when he nothing shines upon,
then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

In the dark blue sky you keep
and often through my curtains peep,
For you never shut your eye,
till the sun is in the sky.

Value of Time

TO realize the value of one year:
ASK a student who has failed a final exam.

TO realize the value of one month:
ASK a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

TO realize the value of one week:
ASK an editor of a weekly newspaper.

TO realize the value of one hour:
ASK the lovers who are waiting to meet.

TO realize the value of one minute:
ASK a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.

TO realize the value of one second:
ASK a person who has survived an accident.

TO realize the value of one millisecond:
ASK the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

TIME waits for no one
Treasure every moment you have.
You will treasure it even more
when you can share it with someone special.

Warm Friendship Fuzzies

I had some free time, so what did I do?
I checked the computer to see if I'd heard from you.
I used to walk out to a box to retrieve mail
But I'd rather get it instantly than wait on the snail...

Checking my email is always fun
I usually get a joke or greeting from someone.
I feel so blessed because on the other end
I know I've connected with a friend.

When I've had a hard day and need to share
Here I can find a friend who will listen and care.
and to this friend I hope I've let them know
That I am always there for them also.

Isn't it a strange kind of bond we form?
It isn't exactly like the "norm"
But where is it written, face to face we have to be
For you to be a very good friend to me?

That little joke, or note, or even just a simple "Hi"
Could be like a ray of sunshine from the sky.

So my online-pals, this is dedicated to you
For all the smiles you have made anew.
May our friendship continue to grow
And the warmth we feel continue to flow.

Always remember this....
A smile is such an easy thing
To pass along the way,
Like a ray of summer sunshine
On a somewhat gloomy day.

So pass one on to those you meet
Then watch that person's face...
And feel the warmth as it's returned;
It's called a "smile embrace.

Vision and Goals

Our Vision and goals to see,
is what God has given to be.
Don’t turn your eyes around
and listen to the wrong sounds.

What God has meant to be
He laid upon you and me
not as a burden to think
but with His Love and no guilt.

Let us remember our vision
and not change within the season.
God will provide our needs
for it is his will indeed.

Put all your trust in Him
and he will bless this thing.
For it is good and shall be done
for all the generations yet to come.

What Money can buy

Money will buy:

A Bed but not sleep
Books but not Brains
Food but not Appetite
Finery but not Beauty

A House but not Home
Medicine but not Health
Luxuries but not Culture
Amusement but not Happiness

A Crucifix but not a Saviour
A Church pew but not Heaven
What Money can’t buy,
Jesus Christ can give freely without charge.

Is Jesus your Lord and Saviour?
If not, you can get a new lease
on your life right now.
